Steel shot

Description

Steel shot is a fully heat treated spherical product of hyper-eutectoid steel.  It has a uniform structure of finely tempered martensite to provide optimum resilience and resistance to fatigue.  It's durability and resistance to impact fatigue provide maximum cleaning efficiency at the most economical cost.

Application

Typical applications include: preparation of metal surfaces prior to subsequent coating, removal of sand from castings, descaling of steel strips, bars pipes, shot peening etc. Industry users include: foundries, automotive, aviation, blast/paint contractors, pipeline manufacturers, steel fabricators.

Advantages

  • Ideal for peening applications to impart a clean, smooth and polished finish
  • Used to impart compressive strength to torque or load-bearing metal parts such as crankshafts, engine turbine blades and heavy-duty springs in a peening application
  • Both air-powered and wheel blast systems can be used to accelerate the steel shot onto the surface of the part
  • Can be recycled as many as 3000 times before replacement due to its hardness and density
  • Does not use an abrasive process
  • Generates a minimal amount of dust in the blasting process
